Becoming Yours Tonight
by Theodoris Tsiamitas
Once was guileless and harmless,
Naked, virgin, bare, untried,
Till I learned to bend and harness
And obstruct the path of light.
Ever since, the days are sunless,
And my shadow, like the night,
Spreads all dark, and black, and brightless,
Undisturbed, 'n out of sight.
But like stars in cosmic vastness
that define and run the sky
You fell here, adrift and casteless,
As I wished to find a why
Could it be that you're my answer?
Could it be I lose my mind?
Do I fear what may come after?
If you too desire to find?
When I learn to banish darkness
And I turn my shadow white,
I may trust my heart, as mindless
And become just yours tonight.
